Just joined the forum & my first inquiry is what bayonet would be correct for a Cno7 trainer 22 Long Branch. I don’t know any of the markings or sheath type Etc.
Thanks Scout64

Welcome from Phoenix Arizona.
From what I am to understand, the rifle No7 .22L was never issued or used/trained with a bayonet attached.

Thanks for the welcome & the reply. That’s good to know & will save me some money for an incorrect accessory. Alan(Armourer) from the U.K had just responded also with the same info that no bayonet was used with the Cno7.

Welcome from Atlanta, GA. I don’t think the C No. 7 barrels had bayonet lugs. I’ll check mine tonight when I get home to confirm. There are .22 trainers that were built up from No. 4 rifles by sleeving a .303 barrel, but this is not a genuine C No. 7 with the solid .22 barrel.
Long Branch C No. 7 rifles were also made from No. 4 Mk 1 receivers and have the bolt head release catch (not Mk 1*).
Edit: I checked my CNo.7 and it does not have bayonet lugs. It is built on a Mk I* receiver, no bolt release catch. Barrel is solid, not a sleeved .303 barrel. This is consistent with Skennerton’s description of the C No.7 |
