They got it right with 6.5x55.

I have a m96 Swedish Mauser as a Club loan rifle. It is very accurate and with it's relatively low recoil it is a great starter for beginners.
Life.. a sexually transmitted condition that is invariably fatal.

here are the 1909 Argentine, and the 1918 Carl Gustav Swedish Mausers.  Only photos I have with me.

I plan on doing some stock work of both these guns, someday soon.  The Carl Gustav is in good shape, with relatively few dinks and only one cut on it, however dirty!  Even a rudimentary wipe down with Murphy’s oil soap didn’t bring it back to life.  As I understand it, the stock is Beech, and should be a lot lighter in appearance.  The bore is great, and the numbers match all thru-out.  The breech shows signs of wear, possibly a pull-thru problem.  A good project that I’m thinking will happen in pieces.

The Argentine’s PO decided that a high gloss stock refinish was in order.  I want to remove that, and this will become a project real soon, as we seniors are supposed to STAY HOME now with the way things are with COVID19.  All the numbers match on it, however the bore shows signs of pitting, and the lands are dark.  Have already put a cleaning down there using Sweets. 762, however there is much work to do to bring it to my standards.
