I was mentioning about a series I watched years ago... For Empire and Country and For King and Country. Ww1 and Ww2 documentaries from a Canadian military historian. I actually ordered them from Amazon.ca and have been watching them. Very good. My question was going to be some of the troops seem to be wearing fur jerkins. It looked like coyote or wolf, but I looked it up and found they were goat. Apparently very warm, but once wet, stunk to high heaven!

You can smell a billie -goat at 2 miles at certain times of the year.
Had feral goats around New Galloway in Scotland. Keep Up-wind!

There was a craze for fur trimmed suede jackets when I was in high school. everybody wanted one. Till it rained! I remember someone telling me it was the fur trim, which I think was coyote? "How stinks the goat On yonder Hill who seems to dote on chlorophyll"!

I have a over blanket made from two bear skins.
I have it in a two sheet cover to avoid the tickle. Very warn. Saving up nice coyote hides to make jackets. Only tan and save the black or almost black ones.

nice , i fear a bearskin might be too warm in my house [as we aged my wife likes it warmer ] but i could see that on the bed with window open overnight , fresh air and the sound of the river to sleep by , be pretty close to heaven i think ,

A buddy of mine has a bearskin in his truck for use as an emergency blanket. He swears its as warm as any modern low temp sleeping bag.
