Hi Gents!

I'm new to Long Lee Enfields, so I have a rookie question.

Should an LSA MK 1 have an LSA marked buttstock?

Thanks!

Mike

When it left the factory, yes.

When in service, usually, but not always.

So in service, I imagine stocks were damaged and replaced in the field.

I asked my question as I am considering purchasing a MK I that is an LSA with an Enfield butt stock.

In service, rifles got the replacement parts that they needed to keep running. The armourer would reach into the spares bins and select a part for fit and with no regard as to the manufacturer. As long as it fit within specs, good to go.

No worries about the butt stock being Enfield. Not unlike buying a vintage army Jeep fitted with Dunlop tires, when the originals were fitted with Goodyear. Thumbs Up

Great analogy - I must remember that one.
