I attribute the accuracy of this rifle to my handloads, the rifle, and me, in that order. I was going to use a box of M852 Match loads but decided against it because I purposely broke down one box and found a variance in powder charge between each cartridge by as much as 4 grains, plus and minus.
Yes, Heavy Barrels are a plus when attempting to put a round down range as accurately as possible. I do not have that option with this shooting rig. I locked the barrel into its channel at the muzzle and I weighed out every charge of powder and seated each bullet to give a .025" jump to the lands to keep chamber pressures down to a minimum. The averaged FPS is 2486. By no means is this a Bench Rest Contender. It will get the job done though...

2486 fps with a 168 gr bullet is a reasonable load for the No. 4. You can put a few thousand through that barrel before you will start to see accuracy degrade.
You might want to try an even milder load to preserve barrel life, it may not reduce accuracy at all, try and get it below 2400 fps. But, if you don’t intend on shooting more than a few hundred rounds, it won’t matter. Just my thoughts....
