Last week my neighbour gifted me a rather poor condition WW1 Lebel bayonet.
The tip has been broken off; it's missing about 5" off the end. These were really long spikes. It is around or after 1916 date I believe; at least that is when the handles started to be made in brass. I've just tidied up the tip and it is in use as a poker for the logs in the fire place.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
