Being a cas/SASS shooter costuming is important to me. Im just curious what is the earliest uniform that I can get away with when shooting my Mk3 in a BAMM? I wear this outfit when I do our January shoot to commemorate Rorkes Drift. Not having a Martini I use my 1873 Winchester musket with its bayonet. ‘No comedians please.’

im a CAS/SASS shooter as well , ive not found any of my enfields long or short to be compatible with any events we have here , but i know there are reenactors in most everything and i like the idea of those , there is/was an individual from medicine hat that did this regularly and shot CAS/SASS but ive not seen grant on any forums recently and i dont have any contact data ,

if your speaking of the mkIII rifle you need to look at what was current in 1907 and after , thats the era of these rifles till 1915-16 then you get into the mkIII* , the earlier mkI rifles might offer an earlier vintage for uniform , but not being a collector of uniforms i cannot say for sure ,
in SASS you would be in wild bunch but i think they have rules restricting what can be shot that might preclude the mkIII , your martinis will never keep up with the levers ,

i do like ypur photo era tho

Thanks, here I am in my Span Am outfit with an 1899 Constabulary [school] rifle [ignore my watch]. Years ago I suggested that we try a bolt action match along with our monthly cas match. We also do our Wild Bunch shoots along with our monthly cas shoots. Everyone gets to play. The pistol and sg targets were the same for all the shooters but the cas rifle shooters had a array of their own and the bolt action shooters had their rifle targets set farther out. The rifle order of engagement was the same for either. It was a big hit and now we shoot it 2-4 times a year. Nowadays there is a more or less organized thing called BAMM, Bolt Action Military Match that is an offshoot of Wild Bunch. Suggest it at your club if you have a group of milsurp boltgun collectors and cas shooters who will not have a hissy fit. ‘More fun than a hog killen!’  Even better if you dress the part.

I always hated to waste money to buy ‘real’ dress clothes but never minded buying cowboy dress clothes, my wife was delighted so eventually all my ‘good’ clothes were my cowboy clothes. My ropers are still my church shoes. There were a lot of ex soldiers in the west from conflicts all over so uniforms probably weren’t an uncommon sight. Don’t forget to mention using lead bullets [gas cks are ok].

Baltimored;
Just a suggestio, FWIW

Your [pith helmet should have the regimental badging on the front.

Your blue pants should have a red stripe down the length of the legs.

IIRC, the web gear should be white

But - in the end - close enuf is good enuf, methinks
