Howdy all-
I just picked up a No4 Mk1* 1943 LB, bolt does not match unfortunately, however can some of you experts advise me what the deal is with the electro stencil on the barrel?
Any other comments / things seen would be greatly appreciated.

THX

Howdy from Phoenix Arizona 🤠
The elctro stenciling on the barrel is more likely than not,  a half-assed attempt from a previous owner to identify his or her rifle if is was ever stolen. It is not in the same script as that of the factory stenciling...

Wild guess old owners phone number or something similar.
It was a popular way of "Thief Proofing" your stuff & getting it returned if stolen.
Unfortunately it usually devalued the item it was  engraved into as it could never be sold as "new".

Follow up question, can anyone clarify the barrel marking?

Looks like .303 ??? 18.5 tons

Is this an FTR replacement ? It’s a 2 groove pristine bore.

To clarify.  The stenciling was made by a previous owner and not from the factory. Any FTR markings would be next to the original No4Mk1* factory stamping. If there is a,"303 2.222" 18.5 tons per â–¡" stamped somewhere, it would also have the word,"England" stamped on the rifle as well and typically on the butt socket/wrist. Being a 1943 specimen, it should have a two groove barrel but, that being said, it could just as easily have a five groove barrel installed. Hope that helps...

The 1944 No4Mk1*LB on the top has its original 5 groove barrel with a Canadian Arsenal stamp on the barrel knox form.
As an added bonus sgabriel854, the rifle on the bottom is a 1943 No4Mk1* Savage with six groove 7.62x51mm NATO chambered barrel installed complete with the CR 141 A 7.62x51mm  Enfield magazine. It is loosely based on the L8 series of Enfield rifles.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding but the messy electropencil seems to be: "MU0L708CL0?860"

Sounds like it to me, I guess it some "code" that the old owner stuck on there.

So I gather the marking on the end of the barrel was a required proof test before the rifle was sold off into the civilian market place.

I do not see an import mark anywhere on the rifle.

Stock seems to push on the barrel on the left side, other directions I can get it to float.

I'll see how it shoots.
