he!!o, I just got my hands on what I'm assuming is a recent African import Enfield. Just looking to confirm what I'm assuming about the make/model. I'm guessing it started life as a Long branch No 4 mk1*
It is marked No 4 MK1/3 and has an FTR marking but its hand electro penciled, you can make out a 19 but nothing more. The A on the S/N is hand electro penciled as well so the serial has been changed. The SN on the wrist by the stock is so worn you can only see 1 digit. the bolt handle had its SN removed. Fairly clear this thing is a pile of various mfg parts, guessing a result of the FTR process or just an Enfield of Theseus. Upper handguard has a W.L the lower stock has a S.M marking. I cannot describe properly how dirty this thing was. everything was gritty, the fire control parts were all actually crusted in dirt. the stock was covered in that sticky, years of people touching it grime. Mold and grime under all the stock parts. took quite a while to clean. Its also broken in a few places. I have parts on the way but the extractor spring, firing pin, front sight hood retaining bolt, rear trigger guard bolt are all broken. Wood has no cracks and is tight so that's nice. |

I`d say some time before you got it it was pretty rusty and someone scrubbed all the rust off it hence the lack of any real finish on the metal. |
