Sham, I had no idea your French was that good. I took French in college every day for 4 years. Still couldn’t carry on a conversation in French after all that. That’s when someone told me the only way I could learn it was to get a French speaking girlfriend! Wished they had told me that before!

That's mostly a machine translation as I have already written the posts in English. My French is passable, although heavily accented, & quite "spicy" as I learned most of my spoken colloquial use from Truck drivers from way up north, just 13Km from the Belgian border, in Vervins. The girlfriend thing helps though as did "Asterix" comics! Sounds odd I know, but its actually good for written French. little bite-sized snips kept in context by the graphics! I lost touch with her during my globetrotting days, Have you any idea how many "Marie-Claire LeBruns" there are on Facebook, even if I add "Marly" it doesn't help much.

dont look for old girlfriends - never know what you might find ..........no , not from my experience , others , i took my own advice ,
all that said , im loosing a friend here - older VN vet thats been sliding for a couple years now , , i will say this - it amazing what the human body can dig up to survive even if its not really making quality of life any better , ive already lost most of my VN era friends , this one is going to hurt me a lot , i also lost one of my very best friends from school years , im feeling like i graduated from that wedding crowd into the obituary crowd ............just dont want to wake up to my own any time soon ,

I have lost of older VN Vets friends. I will see them again.
They live in my heart and soul. We shall remember the good times and the bad. All the units I served in are long gone and the bases closed. As a joke on family and friends I call and sing happy birthday to voice mail, even Grandbabies. Just do not stop being you. And do not eat ham and lime beans from a cold can in the dark.
