I bought an Enfield from Classic Arms, took it out to the range today.
For whatever reason after putting a round into battery and pulling the trigger 98% of the time the firing pin will not engage. However if you have no rounds chambered and just dry fire it, no problems the firing pin works properly 100% of the time. The trigger clicks, but the firing pin stays in position. And once that happens it's a bitch to get the bolt to disengage and eject the round. I tried to fire the rifle at least 20 times, only twice did the firing pin move. Every other time, click...firing pin doesnt move. Ideas as to what's wrong? |

You may have one of several problems. debris in the bolt, broken firing pin, broken spring, incorrect bolt face, head space problem, Safety partly deployed.

Great so I dry fired it a couple more times tonight and now the damn bolt is stuck. The firing pin moved slightly but did not fully engage. And now the bolt is locked into place, it wont budge.

Pull the cocking peice back and the bolt will open. The rifle is going to half cock.
The safety may be incorrectly installed. Remove the safety and try the rifle without the safety installed. The safety has 2 components, a locking bolt and a small threaded rin on the outside. The ring can start in a few positions but will only work properly in 1 of them.
From memory it should start at about 11 oclock position.
Let us know how you go.

Now that is interesting. If you keep the rifle and get it figured out I sure would like to know what was the cause(s) of the problem.
If you decide to send it back I know that Ben at Classic Arms will gladly take it back or exchange it for another rifle.
He has for me twice (different rifles and not his fault either time).

I contacted Century Arms and they issued me an RA # for repair, said it will take at least 4 weeks and of course I have to pay to have it shipped up there. Gonna call Ben and see if he is getting anymore in as they are currently sold out. |

It came back from Classic this week and I went out to shoot it, this issue was reseolved. Ben's gunsmith adjusted the firing pin out. |
