i just got an 1861 and an 1870 enfield rifle while here in afghanistan.

got the markings of the british crown.

no doubt used when watson was a doc in kandahar.

anyone know what they are worth?

Boy, I wish I could help you out, but my experience is limited to 20th century Enfields.  I have a couple books that might have some info in them.  I'll check them out and post back what I find.

From $50.00 to $2000.00.  Are they real?  Are they Dhara production(still making them there)?  What condition are they in?  Is there any provenance for them?
Need more information to give reasonable guess.

I just got an Enfield as well while here in Kandahar, Afghanistan...

 

Has any one found a source to send pics and information to that will help me identify the the vaule, condition, type etc for this enfield?

From my research it is an original 3 band percussion...so if anyone has info on these Enfields from afghanistan, contact me....that includes you chapman!

You guys can post pictures on this forum... if that's what I understand you to be asking. Run your mouse over the icons at the top of the reply/post box and you will see the right icon to post a pic.
