I had my Long Branch No. 4 Mk. 1* slugged and the bore came in at .319!
They didn't believe it, so they slugged it twice.  Same answer.  Two questions:

1. Would sabots help with a loose bore?

B. Has anybody had any luck with a particular cast bullet in some of the looser LE bores?  Notwithstanding the fact that every rifle is different...

I have not fired it yet - I wanted to get it headspaced and slugged first.

With barrel wear  nothing about the bore sizes of a .303 barrel  supprizes me anymore ! Yes cast bullets work well out of .303s I use a couple of LEE moulds & I have a CBE mould . I would be casting a bullet & then mikeing it to see what their coming out of the mould at & then if their not too far over size just lubing them up & not bother sizing them or open up the sizing die for your lube sizer to about .320 !

First up try fireing it to see what it's going to do ! You may be supprized !  the sabots are designed for .308 cals & might expand enough but then again might not ! Re barreling is also a option !

I took my Long Branch to the range.  Mild day, 3C, cloudy, very slight breeze.  About six inches of snow on the ground.  Shot from the bench at 100 yards.  One round warming, one five round group with left arm supported on a toolbox, next four five round groups with the forestock resting on a clay target box, left hand holding the toe of the butt.

Group 1: 215 grn IVI KKSP, ES5: 7 1/8", ES4: 3 5/16"
Group 2: 215 grn IVI KKSP, ES5: 5 3/8", ES4: 4 3/16"
Group 3: 215 grn IVI KKSP, ES5: 4 3/8", ES4: 3 3/8"
Group 4: 180 grn Bosnian commercial, ES5: 5 5/8", ES4: 3 15/16"
Group 5: 174 grn Kynock 1963 Mark 8Z Ball, ES5: 4 3/8", ES4: 2 1/4"

Scientific conclusions: Lee Enfield and ammunition pulling their weight, shooter needs to address his skill-fade!

Rifle may have a .319 bore, but 22 of the 25 shots for group were on the obsolete 7" by 13" FN C1A1 25 yd zerong targets I used as my POA at 100 yards.  Not bad for a start.
