Took a recently acquired 1918 BSA Mk III* out for a spin today. It has mixed wood and a 1928 barrel. Great bore. It just looks a little shabby.
At 50 yards she shot about 6 inches low. S&B 150 grain soft point rounds. The rear sight was 'below' 200 so I raised it appropriately. The group came up an inch. I raised the rear sight to 400 and .... right on! Good stiff 20mph breeze too. Not blowing the slug so much but the target stand was moving a bit. The first three holes could be covered with a quarter. I shot 40 rounds all into a 4 inch circle. Pretty pleased overall. The moral of the story is that it's not always the bright shiny ones that perform the best. Sorry no pics just now. Maybe tomorrow.

Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.
