Do any of You Guys know of an Accredited Military School that I could send My Son too that wont break the bank and still give the Kid a State accredited High School Diploma ..Not a GED . ?????
He is not a bad Kid But this public school system has hit the bottom of the trash heap hear ... My Son wants to go to the YCP hear in Louisiana ( Youth Challenge Program , Ran By the National Gaurd ) This program is for trouble kids ....and all You get after completion is a GED .... You cant join the Military with a GED !!!! Im not looking for Him to join , But if He would that would be OK with Me ..Its just I cant see letting Him get a GED if our country will not let You serve with one ... Thanks Guys ! |

Sorry I can't help you with your problem, but what's this about the military not taking anybody with a GED? When I was in(sure it was a long time ago, but c'mon), there were even some guys who joined under the condition that they'd complete their GED within the first year of service. I know things change but this seems weird.....

ArcherSix, When I went in back in 86 they would not accept any one with a GED ... I took My Son down to the Recruiters and they told Him and I the same thing just last month .... They will not accept a GED unless You have 15 credit hours from at least a Community college. Then the Mil. will consider enlistment .
The Youth Challenge Program here deals with trouble and Problem Kids ... once the kid makes it through the program ,Which is Military Structured Like Basic training . He is allowed to take the test for a GED and also to take the ASVAB for the Military ...But Only the Air Force will allow enlistment on the YCP program GED ..from what the Air Force recruiter told Us . The Army Recruiter said He (The Air Force Recruiter ) is lieing to us though. |

Sorry in advance for the minor Hijack, As I have no solid info for you question.
Well if one thing is consistant between all Militaries of the world, Recruiters lie worse then politicians and lawyers combined.
That beign said I find it very interesting that the US will not enlist anyone with out a diploma, up here all you need is to have completed the Equivalent of Ontarios Gr 10. However diploma and GEd are encouraged, and maybe 12yrs ago they use to offer people facing 2yr's less a day of jail time the option of joining the military instead. lol

Rhino-
VMI (Virginia Military Institute),is pricey..but @ least its SOUTHERN in tradition,& morals.Thats probobly what you want him to aspire to.(If you dont mind him being away-there is Ridley College-right here in St.Catharines(I can walk there from my place)It has become world re-nown for its acedemia & sports programmes.(It still holds to SOME of its military traditional past-parade uniforms etc)We have kids from all over the world going there. If he does well there..I'll GAURANTEE an acceptance to ROYAL MILITARY COLLEGE, or even VMI.(PLUS- he'll no doubt come home to be the ONLY hockey player in the Napoleonville area!! ) Hoadie |

RMC is an alright route, but there are much better ways to get a free education out of our military then going to the Brainwashing academy of RMC.
