G'day, im finally through all the hoops to get myself a NSW firearms licence (even had to put a genuine reason to get a centerfire) and i am getting myself into hunting.

Any way i am wanting to get myself a No1Mk111 and im in Sydney. Any help with reputable dealers in the area and the type of ammo i should be getting myself wil be much appreciated

gday mate and welcome to the site.im in wollongong. every 3 months they have antique gun fairs at PANTHERS(next show is 23-24 October) world of entertainment and also K.J.BURTON holds a quarterly show at canterbury racecourse..you' ll find on occasions large amounts of no 1 mk111's there mate..and the odd no4's.... heres a tip put in for ya permit to acquire 7 weeks before ya go to the shows...that way ya have the cash and permit on hand to haggle with the stall owner. also youll find militaria.webbing and spare parts for the smelly there too! kjburton.com.au for the next fair date..as for ammo the 303 british in HIGHLAND isnt  bad and cheap(for factory) too.

Ah yeah cool. Cheers mate.

Whats the going price for a bayonett? Might become useful  if a razorback gets a little too close....

The other people at the hunting club im in with recon i shoud get myself some fancy new rifle with optics on it....

Personally i think iron sights are pretty good, back in my cadet days i could shoot decent groups with iron sighted .22's.

i Might have to get something a little smaller than a .303 for things like rabbits though....

bayonets at the above mentioned shows go  from 100 to 200 bucks depending if with scabbard and frog or not. nah trust me mate the rabbits love the .303! gutted, skinned and cooked in 1 hit!

G'Day  welcome to the mad house ! Look ,Fancy looking rifles shoot well & there's a whole world of calibres to choose from! Look I make a living out of Shooting & yes I have a couple of real tack drivers that earn my keep ! I also have several .303's & their off spring that I still use for work ! You can fit optics to a Enfield ! Mick Smiths ,Lawrance ordanance ,Horsley Park Gun shop all stock Enfields ! I recomend though that you ask around your mates & round the traps at Gun clubs as normally someone will know of a cheap one around the place for sale ! Look at reloading as Highland produce cheap brass & projectiles & their not a bad quality

I walked into lawrence ordanance the other week and the pricks didnt want to know me.

Even worse they didnt have any shootable No1Mk111's.

I guess they have heaps of young blokes walking in there all the time wanting to sticky beak with no idea of what it takes to get a rifle licence, but ignorning  me was just wrong.

But even worse they suggested I buy a yugo mauser!
