so my question is did the indian regulars use those ? i supose so as NATO standardized that round and it would make sense that the charging apparatus would be as well

Not a clue!
Looking at the 7.62 stripper clips & the .303 chargers side-by-side it seems that they might both fit in the charger bridge, the dimensions across the sides are so close to each other. I'm guessing that the few Indians issued with rifles that also acually had any ammunition just single-loaded them. From some of the stuff I read after the Mumbai attacks most were without any ammuninition at all & training & carry loadout was in the 5~10 round range. There was a couple of references to 5~10 rounds per year was average!

Don't know if they are exactly the same, but the NATO clip should work if its a one size fits all intended for a wide variety of 7.62X51 rifles and/or magazine loading adapters. If you can borrow a Springfield or Mauser clip give it a try. Not all Mauser clips are the same, some early model clips may be a loose fit.

I just found 3 bandoliers with fully loaded clips (150 rounds) at a LGS! First set for me. Can't wait to try them. The ammo looks vintage...this should be interesting. Click.....BANG!
The fabric is nice and ratty looking, smells like old military stuff. Love it! Oh, and I paid 70.00 USD for all of them.

Old Indian 7.62 Ammo has a very bad reputation.
If you get hangfires I'd not use it. Powders break down and sometimes clump up if stored in tropical conditions for decades. U S milspec ammunition has to pass a test where its stored at 130 degrees for extended periods of time. I don't know what quality control if any the Indians used, and there were many posts about really lousy Indian 7.62 ammo on forums a few years back.

Local Gun Shop.
I have heaps of old Indian ammo from the 50's and 60's, still goes bang, very consistant over a chronograph with an S.D that most modern ammo would cry for.
