Could some one explain the function of the "ejector screw", on the left face of the receiver?

Its name implies that it is responsible for kicking out the spent casing, and on my own rifle it works just dandy...I know it's an important part, but I don't understand how it works, why it works and how it should be adjusted.
Insight would be appreciated!
yeah...whatever.

It ejects Unfired rounds. Fired rounds don't even contact it they are swivelled to eject by friction of the case's left side against the side wall of the reciever.
If an unfired round is pulled to the rear by the extractor the rim snags the screw & flips to the right.
There is no adjustment, just tighten it.
Don't shoot till you see the whites of their thighs. (Unofficial motto of the Royal Air Force)
