a while back-someone was asking me if commonwealth aircrew were allowed / or did carry side arms, during the 2nd twirl at war.well, I got the answer couple weeks back. the old gent said no.they were not allowed or issued.when I asked him why, he just said"the yanks did, but we aren't they. you just didn't" good enough for me-he was there.

That's interesting. Americans certainly did. I believe the Brits did(I've seen RAF holsters). The Germans issued drillings. I wonder if anyone else didn't arm their aircrews....

Multi-barrelred rifle/shotgun combo, sometimes known as a "combinatioin gun".

AS for RAF holsters yes they exist, but if you're thinking of the big blue/grey flap type they were used for things like "Snowdrops" (RAF police) & secuity or RAF regiment for ground use, guarding airfields & so on.  Firearms weren't routinely issued to aircrew, but could be issued in specific situations where it was deemed a good idea. We had P-35's issued a couple of times, but I hear they've now switched to PPK's because of the size.

The rumor is that you don't actually shoot them, you trade them to an arab, who thinks its a real gun & then leave on the camel he traded for it, while he shoots it up into the air to celebrate!Wink

RAF Ground crew with weapons! Crikey! That's nearly as bad as arming a sailor. The safest place is then in front of his weapons muzzle!.
This is MY rifle, there are many like, but this one... is MINE!
