I'm interested in any info you may have on this type of Enfield. It was a gift from my father-in-law. He has had it since the mid 1950s.
Questions...
Can I assume it was manufactured in 1943?
The Long Branch stamp indicates it's mfg. location?
Was this originally a sporting rifle or is it a conversion from a military rifle?
Any and all info is greatly appreciated!
I can take other photos if it would help my cause...let me know what is needed!

When the knock at the door said...Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, naturally, I thought it was a delivery!

Yes, your rifle was built in 1943 and yes, Long Branch was where it was built. The Long Branch factory was in Ontario, Canada. Your No 4 Mk 1* was born a pure military rifle and after being sold out of service was sporterized. In this case the barrel was shortened, handguards and other bits thrown out, the fore-end shortened and the butt shaped. Back years ago a lot of these were cut down into sporters mainly because they were so incredibly cheap.
