Their business model is pure "Gimme, gimme, gimme MORE tax breaks, MORE transferable tax credits, MORE legislated incentives to buy MY product over another companies, support for "Carbon tax", support for the "Green" scam to scare folk into buying their glorified golf carts!

Absolute masters of corporate welfare but still beloved by lefties.
Without public subsidies and special legislation they would have folded years ago.

When their idiot rich hippie CEO stated his goal that traditional cars be forced off the road in favor of his electrics I took that personally.

agree - much like the gasahol industry their buisness model calls for government infussions of cash to survive and mandates/regulations/purchasing incentives to create demand [rip off the customers]

I have to be the one who disagrees on this one, sorry, Richard.
Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin & Hobbes absolutely hates the "Calvin peeing on something" logo & I have to stand with him here.

It's his creation, & it was never political, let Calvin be the 5 year old he was designed as ( & who I probably was). Let Tesla motor co (one entity) be sl*gged separately from Nikolai Tesla who was (probably) a mad genius.

Make it specific to Tesla Motors & make it original ( Tesla car frying in a thunderstorm) & I'm on board.

"Tesla Motors" appropriating Nikolai's name rather than making up their own is another thing that irks me about them.
They want to exploit his legend  to create a false impression that they too are innovators and geniuses.

As to the shirt it's necessary to keep the message simple to reach the simple minds that are swayed by the Tesla Motors/Elon Musk charlatans.
The level of public blind obedience and cowering of politicians to TM is downright creepy!

So I'm doing what little I can to off-set that.

I should add that I'm not selling these shirts, made at my own expense, with no subsidies from Gov. Org. or TM's competition.

What is Tesla doing that the others (GM, Chrysler etc) aren't?

The whole "green" energy thing is a load of crock. Ask these companies what the footprint is just to produce a "green" energy product opposed to what it off sets.

Just take Lithium. The salt is produce mainly in South America, shipped to Asia to be made into cells and shipped to Europe and North America to be used. The ship that has to transport the materials, literally, around the world gets it fuel mainly from the Middle East. All the metals that are recycled to make these products are shipped from Europe and North America to Asia, processed and shipped back.

To be kinder to the planet we need to use less energy, not produce products that produce energy cheaper.

That's horribly true.

What has been spun is the emissions at point of use are the only ones counting for "zero emissions", manufacture, transport, mining & storage have conveniently been lost from the equation.

Guess where most of the rest of the Lithium is?

Afghanistan,Star

That's right that's why we're fighting for the area it has a butt load of the stuff (& pretty much nothing else) & we're gong to need a huge amount as soon as all the "Eco-Green hybrid lithium" battery's start clapping out in a few years.

shamu - "...Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin & Hobbes ..."  did not really understands that to be the topic , i will agree with you that he did not intend his character to be that political instrument , i did not realize that was the subject ,

as to taking tax funding to create a business that should stand on its own two feet first , i think that unconstitutional , if they already exist and are solvent but need a little tax increment financing to build and expand - not so much , but then i see that as local infusion of local tax money , pays local wages , using federaL TAXES  i call BS on BOs programs [and everyone elses too]

If you want to see a TM fanboy's head explode just call his Tesla car a "Brick" in waiting. Wink
Seems TM demands about $40K to replace the batteries when they lose their charge completely.
That's 40% of the purchase price of the newer cars!
Once fully discharged they cannot be rebooted, which is another indication to me that the product is not ready for the real world market.

This "Bricking" has already happened to several owners, but TM always blames the owners for the problem.
If TM is fond of you for some reason such as you have kept the car for the full five years the batteries are warrantied for, the price is much lower.
Have I mentioned that I despise companies who alter their prices depending on situational ethics, or to punish owners for revealing problems?

Oh please don't  misunderstand me I'm no fan of Tesla Motors their business plan or the product.

The guy who drew the Calvin & Hobbes cartoons actually quit because he had his vision of his creation & he was appalled by some of the things that were done to the Calvin character (without his release of copyright).

Calvin was mischievous, but never crude or political in nature. Al those Calvin peeing on (fill in the blank) drawings really irked him & he repeatedly tried to stop them being produced for anything. They were lifted from one cartoon where Calvin is stuck in the "thousand mile woods" & pees on a bush, much to Hobbes amusement.

tesla the band sux too!

but , yea that tesla car company, Seems I remember  reading an article or two in the wall street journal two or so years ago where they were under investigation from the SEC because they could only show a profit based on their ability to beg barrow or steal grant money. Seems the SEC has a problem when you pay out dividens  from grant funding. cant really legitimately claim a profit if it all comes from soft money grants. go figure! I guess they at least gotta try.

Maybe I'll like them more when they start showing up in the local pick-a-part junk yards
