My wife has created a monster.  I had no interest at all in militaria until my wife got a me a few period bits to go with my No.4 mk2. (Sling, ammo pouches, ammo clips).  I'm now keen to find a bayonet, but the question is, which one is the right one, and where can I get it.

All help appreciated.

The No 9 Bayonet is technically correct but the earlier spike style is acceptable
Here is a link to my favorite of militaria:

you could actually fit a no7 with her as well , but it is a spendy and gimmicky bit of kit , as stated above the no9 is best suited to your needs for a mk2 , it comes in two blade types i am aware of in real ones - the spear point that resembles a US bayonet of the M16 type and the earlier no5 type knife blade ,

the no9 should be able to be found betweel $15 and $35 ,

the older no4 spikes in that range and beyond $150.00 depending on its designation and maker , if you look for a nice mkII or mkII* you will find a reasonable one ,

the no7 will start at $150 and go higher ,

the scabbards for the no7 and no9 are the same - also same as the no5 , will want a frog for it and 50s webb would be perfect ,

the scabbards for the no4 are all over the board and come in metal and plastic , tube type with longer webb frogs of WWII era and beyond to korea ,

check jeans bits at P&S militaria in canada , great guy to deal with -

my no9 socket and one of my no7 swivel grips are left of the no5 , the spikes are to the right here , sorry i do not have good shot of the scabbards

if you look close at the entrenching tool in the top of the cabinet it has a spike attached to the end with a typical tube scabbard and P51 frog ,
