apply that BLO sparingly and rub till the woods warm , repeat once a day for a week , once a week for a month , once a month for a year and thereafter as necessary ,

If you cut the linseed with turps, it soaks it up better. Raw works as well as boiled, and gets in the wood a bit quicker.
It can't absorb too much!

Edited to say I notice Pedro's Lee -E. is his oldest rifle, and my L-E's are my newest!  Don't know what to make of that quite,......Maybe I'm a bit behind the times.
Matchlocks, flints, percussion, Snider Enfield, and M-Henry...  The .303 makes such a tiny piddling hole it hardly looks worth firing.  (But I know it works even if it Is small!)  Wink
