Gents, I need some help!
I have purchased a very nice AG Parker 9G dioptre sight for my 1929 BSA No1 MkIII*. The plan is to use it in the modified class for military rifles.

However the sight base that came with it is not for an Enfield. (I was aware of this and was probably why the price was good)
I have not found anything that resembles this sight base searching images of Parker sights on line.
I would like to identify this sight base, because it may be rare (or worthless) and someone somewhere may need it, as I need one for the No1.
I intend trying to make a sight base for my rifle; I could modify this one; but it would be a shame to do so without knowing what it was I was destroying!

So, over to you guy's!

thanks, Zed.

Have you tried the British NRA webpages?
I believe they have a big section on sights & bases.
http://www.rifleman.org.uk/BSA_sights_and_accessories.htm

Or maybe this guy:

If all else fails,

a bit drawn out but lots of info here:

Thanks for the input.
I have studied the "rifleman" site and the stuff on badgerdog's is basically similar. I've also scoured for Images of Parker sight's and target rifles, but have not found anything similar; I have also e-mailed a couple of specialists in the UK, to no avail.
Tonight I bunged an e-mail to Fulton's of Bisley; I'm hoping they can identify what fitting I have with this 9G sight. I'm also hoping they can supply the correct one!

Thats probably your best bet.
I looked myself & didn't find anything like it. Older Martini ones are short & square, mounting the sight base behind the action & Long Lee is a "square" shape.
P-14/M1917 might be a possibility as might be something Mauser actioned.

Just to update this thread.
I got a reply from Fultons of Bisley. They could not identify the AGParker base plate that I have. But they did suggest contacting a Breech Loader association.
In the mean time I have found that the 2 screw threads are actually Enfield type; the safety screw thread is identical. However this may be just because AG Parker used what they had, and as most of the 9G sights would have gone on SMLE's, it would seem practical. But I'm now wondering if it could be for an older rifle! maybe 19th century; or a one off.
So anyway, the hunt continues.
