It's much narrower in width than a regular #4 micrometer sight and has the LB of Long Branch stamped at the top left corner and a number 2. Also, it's graduated at 20 and 100.It also has screw threads for an eye piece but the threads are of a much smaller pitch than like say for a PH4 sight.

That's what I immediately thought as well, Shamu. I have 3 of them here. 1 LB and 2 with GR/C2 stamped in the left corner, with a # 2 stamped directly above the eye piece threaded hole.

Is that fitted with some kind of spacer, like the stamped .303 ones use?

No spacers. Is mounted on a threaded bar which works on an internal thread. Sight can thus be adjusted laterally.

C No.7 sight. As I understand, the threaded pivot rod is thicker, so if one were to fit that sight onto a No.4, the holes through the mounting lugs would need to be opened up with a drill, making it a permanent modification.

That was true of most of the windage adjustable sights. I think they simply threaded a standard pivot hole & cut the screw to fit.
I have this version, & it needs a larger pivot hole reaming & a hole or two drilling for the detent ball & spring. |
