I tried explaining that to a fellow today at the gun store I go to. He's new into Enfields and just bought one today. He was telling the gun store owner how he's going to free float the whole length of the barrel so the shots will be more accurate and consistent. I stepped in and told the guy not to bring that rifle back complaining that it shoots like $#!t. You are going to completely screw up a perfectly good rifle if you think you're going to improve on it's shooting capabilities. If you would like I can email the proper bedding procedures to you. The gun store owner has known me for about thirty years now. He looked at the guy and said he might want to rethink what he's wanting to do and take me up on my offer. He said Na' I got this man,I know what I'm doing, and left.

Just a quick thought on the mismatched bolt. If the people selling the firearm may have had more than one Enfield, someone may have fitted the wrong one. May be worth a phone call; there may be a Savage owner with your bolt!
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
