It was certainly a turning point in recent times! I was working in the UAE at the time; watched it on CNN. Just thinking about the fact that I could watch live, half way around the world from the event; show's how far we've come in technology; and the event show's how far is left to go for humanity!

was thinking on this since the big talk here was of all those that were not yet born or too young to remember , it was all about those that dont know - so teach them for christs sake , i did my kids and am my grandkids , we are older - most of us - and so im not preaching to millenial crowd here - i dont think ,
our lives were shaped by the past but we were told why , today they dont get that history is what develops us - they think its the newest Iphone , as a child i was taught history in school and i knew of pearl harbor from home conversations - that was my parents 911 , i grew up in a home that believed that dropping the first and second atomic bomb was not something to celebrate short of the end of the worlds worst war , it was supposed to finish that era and initiate a new one of new thinking , so far we have not seen another , praise the lord , and yes i remember those two august dates every year in my life because i am not sure i would be here if not for my father participating in the bombing of japan , he!! i even was taught of gettysburg by my grandfather , not just the iowa troops participation [because that was where i was born] but the southern participation because that was my roots , there was no blame nor fault but it was told as history we never wanted to relive - just facts of life that left scars and made people who they are , today there are so many that think they are the only ones in life that matter , i will admit to a personal credo of "the world began on the day i was born and will end on the day that i die" but that is my personal thinking and does not extend to others , i expect to leave this world having left it better than it was , just me ....no great expectations , small things matter , like every soldiers participation at gettysburg , i believe none died in vain , all contributed and every contribution should be recognized as the building blocks of our current society , not to be torn down and disparaged as the taliban did in the middle east - we need to be better than that , but i am questioning if we are these days ......... SORRY- off my soapbox , but genuine thinking here ,

Do not ever be sorry for stating your feelings. I could not have said what you just stated any better or clearer. I commend you for your truthfulness...

thanks , i was pretty sure there were others here that understood where i was goingwith that , i am certain there are those in this world that would not , but hopefully they will never controle this world , we need to remember history- teach history and hoefully learn from it , those that squelish history under the guise of making a better place are simply hoping we forget ---so they can take controle and force us to relive it
an educated mass is one that cannot be fooled by the deceivers , censorship and revisionism simply keeps the masses ignorant and controllable , they are tying hard to manipulate and control , we need to resist and stay a thinking people , capable of making independent decisions - those that refuse to accept the control of the PC crowd , the socialist nazis and their enslavement intentions .

thanks again , once in a while i speak out and am not real sure that i am well received , i have a high tolerance for the idiots i meet every day but a low tolerance for events like this , as well as those that push the agendas to create the uneducated , controllable masses to better their position in life , i hope for them the results of the camera rouge in cambodia as they deserve it if it ever takes hold here , they will find their high education and stupid thinking buries them in that utopia they wish for ,
not that i do not wish for better lives for all - i do , its just that those that think they are so much more educated and smarter than all of us are not , they really are not the kind of people that will survive a situation like they seem to be pushing for , most of us might become "resistance forces" we have a far better chance , i have always believed that the common person is far better suited to survival in that situation , the degrees and tittles will be a red flag for potential problems to a communist totalitarian regime , a possible threat ....little do they know that thinking men and women are way more dangerous to their intent and we are still armed - so far ,

I’ll admit that posting to thread is perhaps a bit presumptuous, being that I am the newbie on this forum... but here goes...
I would add that “the scars that make us what are” (so well put by A Square 10), in my case are a deep, deep influence. Being raised in the officer corps culture (USAF); this has left it’s mark on my thinking. I am thankful. For being raised in the culture where doing what’s best for the greater good, is best done by being willing to fight for it. So many in the USA are not even introduced to the possibility of self-sacrifice for the greater good. I have thought for years that this context needs to be taught as curricula in our high schools. |
