Easter brings for us here in Canada - not only the festive holiday, but the anniversary(90th) of the Canadain victory @ Vimy Ridge in 1917. Our forebears achieved what the British & French couldn't. Historians tell us that it was that victory, that finally earned Canada - just barley 50 years old - the respect & acceptance of the rest of the world. It is said that "she became a nation, & defined as a people". Almost 4,000 Canadian men didn't come home from that engagement. As we have been working up to tomorrow's culmination of this heroic feat - with the re-dedication of the Vimy memorial, the visitation by her majesty, & all the pomp & celebration with the PM & all his cronies there..we are given news -on the eve of this hallowed event - that we have lost 6 more Canadian soldiers in Afghanistan today.
For me -anyways, it sure taints this occasion. I wonder if the people of Afghanistan will ever appreciate the sacrifices made by others for them Hope I didn't depress y'all. Hoadie |

Hoadie, it goes on and on. My Niece's husband is a career Army guy in a "Special" unit. He has made 3 trips to A land, and at least two to Iraq. We never know he was gone until he gets back. I'm proud, but it does make you nervous.
