Went to the range this morning. The rifle performed flawlessly. Cycling, extraction and the most important part, every round fired without so much as a hiccup. Post headspace check was as it should be. The ten shot group was done at 100 yards and the black square is exactly 1"...

Very nice Goosic! Which barrel was this, the one you rethreaded and re-crowned?

No sir. This was another 2A1 7.62mm Numrich purchase britrifles. I did backcut the threads so the barrel threaded on easier but will not unthread without alot of work. The chamber face was cleaned up by removing .015" of metal. .015" of material was also removed from the outer barrel area that contacts the receiver when it is mated to the receiver. This also allowed for the barrel to correctly index itself without having to cut a new extractor notch 180° opposite the original. I refaced a #0 bolthead, removing .020" bringing from .625" to .605". A No-Go gauge was used and the bolt does not close. I did bring the total barrel length, not including the chamber to 22 3/4". I did a flat and recessed crown with a 45° lip on the inside. The ten shot group was done after I put 90 rounds down range. The barrel was extremely hot and the shots were one right after the other.

It's fair to say that it performs very well indeed. As does the shooter! Well done Goosic.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

Thank you Zed. I am going to give credit to the scope. It is a Lucid 6-24×44 with a 30mm main tube. It has a side focus from 5 yards to infinity, quick adjustment for horizontal and lateral, along with a very nice MilDot rectical. You squeeze that trigger for the first time after acquiring the target and wherever that bullet struck, using the MilDots and some quick calculations, you can put the remaining bullets on top of the first one. The rifle is only as good as its operator and its equipment. The reverse to that is, I am only as good as an operator due to my rifle and its optics. I know this rifle inside and out for obvious reasons and I would like to think that it knows me as well.
