Sounds like a "Pat' 37", 3rd model? Makers code, a Broad arrow (property mark) Probably a date, 18/80 maybe? But the digits seem wrong for a MM/YY format? The definitive source for Brit web gear, frogs section. I'd think a pat 1937 3rd variation a bit too late for a WW1 bayo. But SMLEs & Pat 37 gear were also used in WW2 so its possible.

Thanks Shamu! One thing I'm finding out about Lee Enfields and accessories, nothing is quite clear. Lots of twists and turns.
