Moose might be the one animal I would travel far to hunt. Always thought that would be a good quarry. By all accounts they taste great.
I have taken many whitetail deer, and one fallow deer on my NY property that was a truly astronomical chance. A farmer five miles away had illegally imported some and when he was about to be closed down had a "fence mishap" and a dozen escaped. Mine was one of two that were ever reported killed (one of the local game wardens is a neighbor). I called him immediately upon killing the one on my land - while grouse hunting. Nothing sporting about it. After being tested for tuberculosis, rabies, CWD and other introduced species issues the meat was released back to me. ALL the meat tasted of liver. We ate it; but didn't really enjoy it.

One tip given to me by an old moose hunter was not to drop the moose in the swamp.
I didn't understand exactly what he meant because swamps are where moose like to hang out..... I understood very well when I had to get the moose home.
