I do realize this rifle isn't a true L39A1 but I'm curious as to what members think of it. You can be honest. And Hoadie, thanks for the offer! Sounds tempting!

I know they perform barrel changes because I inquired last year. I have the proper tools to remove barrels but am not experienced with the breaching up and alignment procedures.

I think with a scope fitted it would make an L42 clone as well. You could use a no drill mount so as not to damage the receiver. Especially because the 42 had that style front sight. Where as the L39 has the Parker Hale target sight. You could of course look for a target front sight.
There is an L39 for sale in the UK on GunStar for 895 pounds which seem's like a very good price. It has the 10 round mag too!

Have you got a better pic of the P-H sight? I ask because there's a few "odd" things about it IMO. 1: The elevation knob looks "wrong" for either the early tapered shaped 1/2 minute clicks, or the later barrel shaped 1/4 MOA clicks. 2: The eyepiece doesn't look like the plain, the 6 aperture plate, nor the variable iris types I'm used to. 3: The rear attachment screw (in-the-white hex bolt?) passing through the original ladder pivot pin holes is odd. ![]() Early: Late: ![]() |

I don't, Shamu. Other than I requested I'm not interested in it as I plan on mounting a scope. Just internally debating Addley Precision or S&K.

Well, looks like I'm gonna be a father!... to a nice looking L39A clone! I phoned the gentleman from that Enfield shop. Holy British! It was like talking to Austin Powers! He had built this clone (albeit in .303) for himself. Here's the deal. $600 (without the PH peep site). $35 to ship it to me. He doesn't take credit card. I mail him a cheque, he sends rifle. I like rifle, he cashes cheque. Kinda like old school business! I'll keep the forum posted!

I think you did very well on that deal, Honkytonk. I was looking at several #4 barreled actions I have thinking I could build one for myself. Most have the bayonet lug cut off already but with the front sight block still intact. With all the sported furniture I have and several repro cheek risers....its' got me thinking about a winter project.

Thanks Canuck! I think it worked out good. I thought about building one, but it would be from scratch as I would need everything. The guy that built this is an Enfield guy. Headspace and bore excellent. I'm going to use an Addley Precision mount. I'm not sure what scope. I have a Leupold 1.5x4 straight tube on my Sniper clone. It would look good on this one too but then again a 3x9 would probably get the most out of the rifle as my eyes aren't what they used to be. It is supposed to be a tack driver (for me, thats under 2" moa @ 100 yds)

Should be getting the L39A1 clone this week. Ordered up a VX1 3x9x40 Leupold to put on an Addley Precision mount I already have. I've got some freshly loaded 180's I'm gonna try it out with. Very exciting!

I found the pictures I was looking for.
I had made my own L39A1 clone a year ago or so. I went a tad further with it and laser engraved L39A1 into the receiver. ![]()

Very nice Goosic! Mine has a original stock with a cheek piece. Judging by the shape of the magazine, .303?

I think your bipod spigot is on backwards? The other way round the curved part becomes a palm stop.

I turned it around once I realized it was on backwards. |
