Ok. So I find out that there is a shop that purports to be the direct successor to the original St. Louis Hawken shop started by J. & S. Hawken way back when. (www.thehawkenrifleshop.com)
Now, I like a good muzzleloader almost as much as I like 100 year old British battle implements, and I'm thinking , "Hey why not get the real deal?"
The only problem is that from what I was able to see, they don't actually make any rifles. It looks like they sell kits. And the kit costs $1200! If I want to get a kit, I can get one of known good quality for more like $800 from a company like Track of the Wolf.
Are there any muzzleloader guys here who have had dealings with these guys, or know anything about them?
One would think that the owners of the Hawken name would pride themselves in making the finest period rifles out there, but these guys just sell what looks like overpriced parts......and can anyone own a name that has been used by everyone who sells a traditional muzzleloader for the last 50 years?

Not a muzzle loader, but from the website (hawkenshop.com) it looks like they bought the rights to the name "Hawken Shop"  not he "Hawken" name, and the folks they bought it from may or may not have  had any relationship with the original rifle.
