Hey guys I just recived this as a gift... I absolutely nothing about it. Ill post some pics. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Also I've noticed that most of the enfields I've seen have a full stock. Has mine been altered?]

I cant post pics rite now but in the meantime... the left side has a vide V followed by M 1942 followed by AD followed by 10206.

Probably "sporterised" basically lightened to turn it into a "hunting rifle". Quality of the process varied greatly, depending ion the skills of the person doing the work.

The markings are a bit confusing as posted. Could the "wide V" be an arrow? (Basically a v with a center line). If so that is a "Broad arrow" (an indication of military property at some time).

"M 1942" might indicate made by the Maltby factory in 1942 with a serial number of 10206

i think it a maltby , but photos would be helpful , you NEED to know the correct terminology is no4 mkI , the serial is correct for that , 
or mkI* depending on mfgr , i suspect the previous but you also need to know that maltby had a few marked the latter , 

do post a few photos - you will get lots of good info from them ,
