Just bought my first Enfield rifle
Thought it would go well with my Enfield motorcycles Things that go bang Perfect Looking at all the various stampings, six found so far, trying to learn what they all mean. Other web pages show little that matches It’s a 1942 No1 MkIII*

Welcome from North Carolina and to the Wonderful work of Enfields.

Howdy from Phoenix Arizona 2012Classic.
I always see a Royal Enfield 500 and Intercepter running up and down Camelback Road between 20th street and 40th street and sometimes off of Bethany and SR-51 up to Glendale...

Many may be "inspectors stamps" there were a mass of them each with some (lost to history) specific thing to inspect & mark with it as "inspected". Check out the "Info for new Enfield owners" & "Links" sections there are a couple that go to markings samples. |

Big 'Howdy' from Texas! I'm old enough to remember when Royal Enfield s were made in England and their Interceptors were the match of anything BSA, triumph, and Norton made. If your No.1 was made in 1942 it's likely a Lithgow or Ishy. Post some pictures and we can help you out further.
