Couple move to the snowy north!
Few weeks later there comes a weather warning and local radio asks folks to park their cars on the right hand side of the raod the allow snow ploughs through. Few days later another warning and radio request for folk to park on the left hand side of the street to allow ploughs through. Out she goes and parks on the left. Week later similar request so she says to husband I got to go park the car on the right of the road. Hubby replies for gods sake woman just leave it in the garage will you????

I know of a idiot who had two Rem 700's one in 25-06 the other in .308 & he was shooting them both one sunny day . He changed from the 25-06 to the .308 & forgot to change rifles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yep let a 308 go through a 25-06 ! He burnt 5 layers off of his shooting eye ! as well as the the facial damage ! I'm pleased to report he gave up shooting !Dave |

speaking of eye protection dave, i have a question on eye protection used at the range or any application.would glasses i have seen blokes use at the range protect against a horrific mishap?

Look whilst Glasses wont protect you from a full blown blow up ! They will & do protect you from the venting gas of a ruptured case & ricoceing bullets ! I wear glasses for perscription reasons & had the lenses hardened ! I recomend wearing Glasses out in the field as well as hearing protection ! I've stuffed my hearing up from years of using firearms without using hearing protection until it was too late & have had several head case seperations over the years where I was glad to have had glasses on !

Anything is better than nothing Allan. Like Dave says hearing and your eyes need protecting as much as possible. You only have 2 eyes and they're precious. Any form of safety specs are better than nowt. Most of the industrial specs or goggles will help and they have a kite mark to say they are up to standard. UK prices are around £ 1 50 per pair, so it won't break the bank buying some.

Like Dave said, the glasses will protect you against venting gas and powder and small chunks. If you have quarter inch chunks of metal flying, you can hope the glasses will deflect them, but they are not going to stop something that size if it's moving pretty fast. I'll make an admission here, I loaded up 250 rounds of 45 acp with my Lee cast turret press. I was really flying and got them done in an hour and 10 minutes. I was using Clays powder, and you can easily double charge without overflowing the case or even getting near to filling the case.
I started thinking about was I really paying attention and did I look at each case to check the powder level? I spent about 2 hours last Sat. pulling the 250 rounds apart so I could reload them again. At least now I can shoot them without flinching!Ed |

The differance between Shooting Glasses & Industrial Saftey Glasses is about $50.00 !!!!! If you can see if they've got Yellow Lens Saftey glasses as they are better for light gathering !
