long it takes to actually get it built ,
as some of you know the cabinets i built for my office years ago to display my collection had to go when the office went ....sad day , but they were way too large to find a new home in the house , a friend with space took them for his collection , yesterday my wife urged me to get the rest of the parts and finish converting the old oak drafting table base to a table we had started it a year ago , so background is that i found and bought a cast iron drafting table [similar to frank lloyd wrights at Taliesin west] back in the 60s - i used it thru high school and collage then after till about 1982 , had a 3'x6' top that adjusted height and angle with a 5' counter balanced parallel bar [yes i drew with triangles and such including pencil and ink on vellum] i moved it across 5 states till coming here , at that point i needed a dining room table and was drawing on a smaller board with a universal drafting machine [i still have that and use it] so i took the drafting top off and put a sheet of glass the same size on it and bought a set of antiqe windsor chairs to complete that , fast forward to now , my wife and i decided we needed a side table and she wanted it to be in similar style so i turned an old oak drafting table base into that table with matching [but smaller] glass top , so i know this is getting long , BUT , there is a reason .................. ![]() while doing this i remembered i had one more oak drafting table bases - and while doing it i sorta designed a gun rack display in my head ...........thats what in going to use to display my remaining enfield , cooey , webley and inglis collection of rifles , handguns and bayonets , i have yet to draw it up and detail the build but im in the process , having taken critical measurements and such to be able to work within the constraints , i think i can get what little is left of my collection to work in this setup , if i get a minute with a cammera ill take a few photos to post ,

Love, projects like that. I`ve been doing those kinds of things my whole life, very rewarding. Our house is festooned, with my projects from tables to the master bedroom set and too much more. ![]() Be sure to post up pictures.
