I don't think this one was ever issued for World War I it looks like it's sat in somebody's closet what do you think..?  The bolt serial number matches the rifle...  For its age I believe its in phenomenal pristine
 condition

Need more pics, including barrel info & full rifle.  

But given the Brits had to make do with P14s, CLLEs, Arisakas, and Rolling Blocks as substitute standards, the odds of your rifle being unissued is close to zero.  

Maybe it was issued to a clerk, maybe it saw action & was reworked.  Can’t really say, but more pics would give a better idea.

Looks a very nice rifle but I’m not seeing anything to indicate it sat the war out from this pics

From your pics it appears to have the usual dents and dings of a service rifle, DD was right in asking for some full length pictures to ascertain your rifle's true condition.  Pristine service rifles from WWI are scarce as hen's teeth.

Well, it's missing it's rear volley sight and the wood is relieved for one. Is the front volley sight present or not? More pictures, please.

it should ndeed have both volley sights and yes its an early one - do wish to see more of it
