Now that we have chosen our Press /dies /scales /primer pocket cleaner & Chamfering tool & we've found a decient Manual or two !
We progress to the next step ! First of all we need a powder funnel as we were'nt advised in Pt1 that we needed one (If you'd read the bloody manual like I told you to we would'nt be having this conversation ! ) We've been loading for some time now 5 maybe 6 loads & our brass has grown somewhat ! & even with FLR it's still too long ! The Manual (which now you've gone back to read to try & catch me out ) Says that you must trim your Brass Ok two ways of doing this ! IMHO ! One way is to buy a Case trimmer that accepts various pilots & holds many different size cases ! Also you need a Case guage or a Venier to measure the cases! But what if your only reloading for a couple of different calibres ? More importantly you don't shoot a great volume of ammo ? The answer is in a LEE case trimer ! There is one for each calibre ! And there is a Guide /pilot on each one ! Basicly you can't trim the round too short ! The pilot is a case lenght guage ! & about a 10th of the cost of a Trimmer ! Several of my mates who only shoot one or two differant cals use these to great affect ! I think the biggest Pit fall as Ed pointed out is that advise given normally, is to buy the most expensive & tecnical stuff out there ! In reality the Name of the game is KISS (keep it simple stupid ) Dave |
