So to be more confused. Does the sight shown in the first picture in this post showing the sight on eBay represent the picture that I posted? Or is it different? I thought that they were one in the same.

The eBay picture shows the AJP Matchmaker,"identical to the Anschutz globe sight"with 17mm inserts. It will not fit on a standard Enfield sight base, which is why the the one pictured comes with its own sight base...

Ah, OK. Here is what the eBay description says. I should have read it more closely.

adaptor to fit the dovetail . this is bored to 17mm to fit .303 no4 barrels however i have successfully drilled one to 18mm to fit my martini henry and they can be used as a basis to modify to fit most round barrels by someone with basic metalwork skills . i fixed mine with epoxy resin so that in future with a little heat it can be removed from the barrel .
NOTE will not fit over bayonet lugs .

It does look like the barrel lugs will have to be removed in order to make this work.

I'll have to figure out how it was mounted in the picture I posted. I'm not going to saw off the barrel lugs or remove the ears. The gunsmith I use is a pretty handy machinist. There must be a way of making an adapter to make it like the one in the picture.

The setup in your second picture looks like a Lyman 17A with it's dovetail filed to fit the Enfield
No4 base.I did it several years ago and it's a "LOT" of filing, but it looks good & works+++it's only around $60 & comes with it's own set of inserts.

Best wishes,
capt. easy
