I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The rust was only superficial and the whole of the bayonet cleaned up very nicely. I did find what I can only assume is an inspectors mark, 87Z.
The G crown R No4 MkII SM shows up nicely as well. The following photos have the No4 MkI cruciform as a reference point.

Nice kit!!! I have seen this done on many different components. Seems to be an Australian thing to mark in this way. Not sure as to why or when it was done. I could be way off, but I am curious. Has anybody else seen these electric engraver markings? |

According to my reference book the electro stencils of the broad arrow over the 22 were done at the Singer plant. Curiously enough, I found a very faded out electro stenciled broad arrow over 22 over what looks like mc on the MkII I just purchased. I cleaned it up as best as I could.

i think you are hooked on collecting bayonets - not a bad thing i had a lot of interest there as well , these can become addictive for whats that is worth , but a very rewarding side venture in terms of your collecting interests , can get expensive as well FWTW , a lot have come and gone in my life - some where very fun researching and learning about ,
