he!!o. Im new to the forum. Just picked up a n.4 mk1 enfield. At least thats whats stamped on the receiver.

Sadly someone sporterized it.

They cut the front furniture down and replaced the rear sight with a s&k mount. Thankfully nothing has been drilled or tapped. on the receiver its self. The scope mount? They butchered it. They apparently Lost the rings and tried to tap holes to mount some kind of rail, but that's fixable. Machine shop is going to tig weld it all back and plane it and retap it with a picatinny rail.  total cost? $0. lol its a buddy.

So im learning the most that i can. Id love to replace all the wood the way it should be. Ill post pictures.

What am i missing on the stock behind the trigger guard? links would be great! As far as rear sight/mount im still deciding on what i want to do, although i am buying both scope and rear sight so i do what i want.

I wish i could find someone thatll sell me the wood furniture i need for cheap.

It looks like the barrel was cut just ahead of the front sight, so without a Herculean effort restoration is a pipe dream.  A photo of that area would confirm my suspicion.

Welcome to the tribe Chris!  Just to let you know Enfielditus is incurable but the symptoms can be relieved by the purchase of more rifles.  Yeah, for a hundred bucks I would have bought that rifle too just be sure to have someone familiar with Lee Enfields to check it out for you before shooting it.  Here's what a scoped No.4 can look like with a no-gunsmithing Addley Precision mount on an un-altered rifle.

As DisasterDog noted, the barrel looks cut back but we need a picture to confirm. If that is the case, you would be better off leaving this one as a sporter and looking for another No 4 still in original configuration. You can never have too many Enfields! That's our motto here Big smile

Looks like a good deal for 100 dollars.
It's fitted with a 5 round magazine by the look of it. Original is a 10 round.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

I’ve not seen what looks like a wood insert repair on the underside of the butt stock behind the trigger guard.  Not sure what the hole would be for either.

About the only thing I can think of that Bubba would screw in behind the trigger guard is a pistol grip.

It could be a wood insert repair, but it’s probably just the lighter, fresher, wood exposed from sanding to make said pistol grip sit flush.

surely someone didn't install a pistol grip on this. Then again it wouldn't surprise me. Id love to find all the wood for this thing. I just cant justify spending $100+ on it when the whole rifle cost me that lol.

It would not be the first one that Bubba put a pistol grip on.  It’s realistically the strongest possibility given the cut down barrel & buggered scope mount.  Sometimes Bubba half-asses things.  Sometimes he uses his whole a$$.
