he!!o all, I am looking for an original (new if possible) Lee Enfield No4 7.62 extractor? If you have one you would like to sell please contact me. My rifle is unserviceable until I find a replacement. Hoping someone can help me ๐ Less importantly I am also after the 7.62 charger insert clip for the bridge of the No4 for loading 7.62 ?
Happy to pay reasonable amount for them Thanks in advance! Regards Jeffro

Jeffrey. Welcome from Phoenix Arizona.
Your unserviceable rifle will still work with a regular No4 .303 extractor until you can locate a 7.62 extractor or,if you are handy with a file and a dremel tool, you can make your own 7.62 extractor from a .303 extractor. The following photo shows a regular. 303 extractor on the left and a filed down extractor on the right. The next photo shows a 7.62 snap cap engaged with a normal .303 extractor.

The only charger bridge adapter I found was massively unreasonable. Try Heston Gunsmiths in the U.K. if you're stuck.

Shamu, Your assessment of the charger bridge adapter, if similar to mine, is a polite understatement! Terry

Lee 7.62.
If you are referring to the actual chargers. I have been using the original charger without an issue when charging my 7.62mm converted No5MkI.

Thankyou all for the replies - much appreciated.
I will consider modifying a .303 extractor should I not be able to get the 7.62 extractor - thanks a lot for the info and pictures posted ๐ As for the charger loading - with the 7.62 chargers I have there is too much โslopโ and not much guidance as I push and guide the charger into the bridge area, unlike the .303 chargers that fits the charger bridge much better. I am a beginner at it and I think I need all the help I can get. Perhaps after being experienced I could load them better with your suggestion. As for using .303 chargers the 7.62 rounds are too tight in the actual charger, even loading them in there isnโt easy. I have the later mk4 chargers maybe earlier/ different chargers will allow just that little extra clearance needed for the slightly larger diameter .308 rounds? Goosic - What chargers are you using??In the mean time I would still like to get hold of the original insert (if I can) so I can easily just use the 7.62 chargers that I have. Once again thank you to all for the replies ๐ Cheers and regards from DownUnder Australia ๐ฆ๐บ

Lee 7.62 There are a bunch of different chargers, The newer rough parkerized ones with the circular hole at the spring finger are terrible, even with original .303. (bottom) The older (blued) ones with the oval one are a whole different world.(top) ![]() |

Can you "feel" the difference when charging the magazine?

I'm referring to how smoothly (or not) the rounds strip from the chargers into the magazine. My experience is that the later, parkerized ones are tight er, harder to push down & generally rougher than the earlier blued ones. I think the difference is that the Ishapore is made for 7,62 NATO strippers not Brit .303 chargers? |
