Hey all,

First post on here,
I'm currently building a Lee Enfield SMLE up from just the barrel and receiver, I've done this a few times, and I hope that it will eventually make up my First World War display at some point in the near future. I can source all the pieces I need for the project, except I'm really struggling to find myself a butt stock for it! I've tried everywhere here in the UK to no avail. Can anyone recommend where I may be able to track one down for sale?

Kind regards,

Harry!

E-Bay UK?
Unfortunately the problem with parts from the U.S. is UK customs. They really don't like them coming in.

I have been told that part of the problem is that the USA has now started to implement the CERTES / APHIS regulations (and this covers all wood from 'raw wood' to domestic furniture, to Gun woodwork, to Charcoal, to Picture frames etc etc).

I recently shipped a number of complete sets of No4 furniture to Canada and they were held up at Customs for several weeks whilst 'enquiries were made' about them

US Requirements for importation of wood :

To meet APHIS regulations, wood importers must get a Timber and Timber Products Import Permit to go with wood shipments. You can obtain this required permit by completing PPQ Form 585. You can apply for this permit online.

Some interesting Q&A's at the end of the article.

Yes, but he will be EXPORTING from the US & IMPORTING into the UK, the exact opposite.
Canada & the US also have drastically different firearms laws & rules as well. Canada's are much closer to U.K. regs from what I've been reading.

I'm thinking more of the "re interpretation of ITAR" by our ex president.
the second "us" was a typo it should be "uk".

Either way international transport of the most innocuous gun part is a mess.

Welcome from Phoenix Arizona Toodlecat1.
There is a gentleman on eBay who sells almost everything Enfield, including stock sets. His user name is, dean 1563 (3467). Give him a try. The worst you will  get from him is a, sorry I do not currently have that but I know someone that does have it, and you will  be put in touch with that person.

Harry, I have some you can have free, just pay the shipping but I'm in the USA and if all this stuff I'm reading about "regulations"  is fact, I'm not sure how to get it to you except failing to disclose the contents of the parcel, I certainly wouldn't ID it as "gun parts," but perhaps call it something else.
I formerly had a BMW accessory business and for 23 years I shipped my products all over the world including the UK, never had a problem but I suppose there are no regulations on car accessories.
In any case, I have a complete set of #1 MK III wood and even some extra hand guards I no longer need. I have a total of 28 Enfields, 6 of them are # 4 and the balance #3. I'm brand new to this forum, my first post, I don't see any provision to send photographs or I would send images of my collection.
Best regards, Paul in Scottsdale Arizona USA

Hi Goosic,

Deepest apologies for the incredibly late reply! It would seem i turned notifications off somehow by mistake. I know Dean very well now- In fact, the barrel and action for this project came from him! Have been using his parts department for a while now.

Are you referring to just wood, gun parts or in general? I owned a BMW accessory business for 23 years and shipped hundreds of products to the UK with no Customs issues.
