decrepit as I live here in USA now , my view won gun ownership is a little different , I think that there should be some limitations ie medical evaluations on people fitness to own and certified security of the weapons . This will not affect the 99 % of gun owners who follow the rules . We should also be a gun club member and  in order to maintain your licence  and actively shoot each year. This is a basic requirement in Australia even under a collector licence .would go a long way here to help with those who don’t do the right thing . Australia took away the need for semi auto weapons unless you need for employment ie professional hunter security etc we also do not see a lot of handgun licenses as it is much harder to get .

I still live in Australia devrep. We lost a lot of rights after 1996 when mandatory licensing and firearms registration became compulsory across the country. Each state is responsible for managing their own firearms laws but all states signed up to the National Firearms Agreement which was meant to bring about some consistency. In short, all semi auto's rifles and shotguns as well as pump action shotguns were banned. For some reason we were allowed to keep pump action rifles, so go figure. Farmers can access semi auto rim fire rifles and pump or semi auto shotguns with restrictions on mag capacity. Lever action shot guns have recently been limited to a mag capacity of 5. Generally the only people allowed to own handguns are club member who have to comply with attendance requirements each year depending on how many types of handguns they own. You have to apply for and be granted a permit to purchase every firearm, so no walking into the gun store and walking out with a new rifle, not even a $25 air rifle. I could sit here and write pages of info on all the different laws and exemptions for a select few people but that would just be boring. I'm not against licensing per say but registration is what I really dislike. As a current law enforcement officer, I see the inner workings of the system and I don't believe registration does anything to help keep our community safe. If you're considered fit to have a firearms license, that should be it. Present your license when required, that's wheat we had in the state of Queensland before 1996. There is always constant pressure from certain elements to restrict our access to firearms even more. Protect your rights people because every right taken away from you is just one of many some would like to see taken.
My idea of gun control is hitting what I aim at and nothing else.

we still have our second for now - in spite of those that want to restrict us - the only thing keeping us free from tyranny is the fact we can protect ourselves ,

based on pure crime statistics i like it here - i still have a chance to defend myself , and all over the world 911 or whatever you call it will be too late ,

you may not like us but we have proved , over generations , to be there for not just ourselves but the rest of the world as well , do not preach to us of our lifestyle - it has kept a significant portion of the globe free for a long time ,

Glad to hear she's on her way devrep Thumbs Up.  We'll be waiting for your full report, and more photos please.

I don't envy your position smerdon. There can be quite lengthy delays between submitting your license application and receiving it as well. It may take a while but I hope you get them all home safe.

I hope you didn't think I was preaching at you or your country A Square. I was just saying what we have to put up with over here. If anything I'm a bit envious of what you guys still have. I can still remember when anyone of age could purchase a firearm in this country without questions being asked. I was just a young apprentice back then. Wish I could go back to that time, life was so much simpler.

guns been here at my FFL since saturday.  florida has a 3 day waiting period and they don't count weekends so wait started monday.  sucks.

hate to hear about the PC crap that took over Australia.  always thought of Australia as the wild west and now the liberals have taken over.  I am starting to hate liberals.  even though many of my friends and all of my siblings are them.  at least all 3 of my grown children and my 5 grand children are still conservative.

Great gun devrep.  Hope you have had a chance to shoot it.  where did you find it as I am looking and seemed to miss this one.

My prediction - Joe steps down on February 1 2023, this way Kamala finishes his term (2 years) and by law can still run for two full terms - 10 years of kamala.  Kamala is Obama's chosen one.

Regulations restrict the honest people.  I enjoy hunting, plinking on my friends farm, and planing for my next hunting trip, just like 99.9% of other gun owners!
