Hi i was given this case by my grandfather he also didn't know what the mark was so i was hoping some one could help me out
Ps the case is pre ww1

A souvenir of some sort? The "M" doesn't look unlike on I've seen on early RCMP battle honour guidons like this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Guidon_Royal_Canadian_Mounted_Police.JPG Nice thing to have though. |

the relative who had this fought in ww1 for "worc" regiment in what is now iraq and at the end of the war went and joined the India army we were thinking it could have came from there hope this helps

Could very well be "trench art" If you ever seen the articulate artwork carved into the lime stone tunnels @ Beaumont Hammil, & areas around VIMY you would be very impressed.They also made all kinds of things like trench lighters-made from casings etc.
It wouldn't surprise me if its a likeness of the man's Reg't flag. Hoadie |
