I think they goofed up. I had ordered three boxes of them months ago,and received them, months ago. I received an email earlier today that says my item has shipped. I looked at the online invoice and it shows one box of Woodleigh bullets. Paid $0.00, shipping fee, $0.00. I'm definitely not going to gripe about it...

I did. I called them and told them about the mistake. They thanked me for being a trusted and valued customer. I asked if I should just return the box when I got it. They said no.

Just got back from the range. Testing out newly loaded 150's and 180 bullets with that PPU brass. Using my new L39A1 clone with a 4x Leupold. 1.72" @ 100 yds with the 180's, 1.69" with the 150's. 3 shot groups. Very happy!

Thanks Shamu. I'm always happy if I can shoot just under two inch groups at 100 yds. With my eyes now that's MOA for me! I thought I read once that after refurbishing No4's into sniper rifles, a three inch group at 100 yards was acceptable.

It has been said many times that PPU seems to be the best brass.

Dominion/CIL and Norma also have good reputations as good brass for reloading. Luckily I have big plastic zip lock bags full of those 2 brands! PPU is awesome.

They used something called the "Figure of Merit" to determine accuracy.
(I hope this will post properly)

‘Figure of Merit’ is defined by SAAMI (Sport Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers Institute)   as : “One method used to measure ammunition and/or firearm accuracy capability. To determine the mean radius, the center of the group is located, and the distance to the center of each shot from the group center is measured and recorded. The sum of these measurements divided by the number of shots is the mean radius.”

In order to find the “true” middle of the group draw a vertical line through the middle of farthest left bullet hole and a horizontal line through the middle of the ‘southern most’ bullet hole.  Measure the distance to the centre of each hole from each line and divide the sum by the number of shots.  See figure 2.

Fig. 2

Sum of green lines divided by 5 = mean vertical.

Sum of red lines divided by 5 = mean horizontal.

Blue dot is “true” centre of the group.

IE:

red lines measure 15, 30, 21, 16mm; sum of these is 82.  82/5 = 16.4mm

green lines measure 33, 27, 17, 24mm; sum of these is 101.  101/5 = 20.2mm

Centre of group horizontal16.4mm, vertical 20.2mm.

From this we can see that “Figure of Merit” is what the Americans call “Mean Radius”.  As such eight inch “Figure of Merit” at 600 yards is equivalent to 16 inches ‘across the beam’ (on average) as the diameter of a circle is twice the radius.  Therefore and in terms of minutes of angle 16 inches at 600 yards is a nominal 2.67 MOA (16 divided by 6).   This is was the minimum standard for Mk VII ball ammunition."

OK the image didn't make it. Let me see if I can paste it separately.
