Military dive knife or?
I found this knife in one of my Father's boxes. My Father was a Corpsman from 1937 to 1957 and he never shared anything about it. Never spoke about his time in the military. I do not see any markings. Any ideas?     Over all length: 13 inches, Blade length: 7-3/16 inches Blade width (at widest) 1-3/8 inches Grip length: 4-1/2 inches |

First impression, it looks more like a fighting knife than a diver's knife to me. Diving knives tend to be big & clumsy-looking because they also double up as a hammer/prybar underwater.
Not betting money on it though! |

Interesting to be sure! I vote for it being a fighting knife, origin to be determined at a later date. There could possibly be markings under the corrosion though.

I will check and see what I can find.
The handle is made up of stacked leather washers. I am thinking more on military knife as well. |

Found something quite similar to your knife. Here is a picture I gleaned from the internet.
 "WWII Fighting Knife made by Leo F. Baker. The double edge blade is 7 3/4" long and made from a file. The scabbard is original to the knife. This exact knife is pictured on page 79 of Mike Silvey's WWII Book.."

The memeory bank in my noggin seems to say "U.S. fighting knife" Now I may be off base here (cuz I'm old as dirt), but I THINK it was called the M1 fighting knife...Again - its from a memory that has a tendency to fade.
