Disclaimer: I have not read the original, but did skim through the Wiki article.
It was a decent adventure romp, the critiques of the CGI were IMO over stated, there were a couple of places where the CGI'd "Buck" wasn't believable, but not may.
They seem to have stuck well to the original plot, but simplified it a bit & combined a couple of characters into one so they could keep the plot-line.
The biggest goof (I cant be too specific it'd be a spoiler), was when the canoe springs a leak. Th water shot a good 18" over the top of the canoe!
Worth the visit IMO, give it a spin.

There may have been an Enfield revolver in the Mounties holster but you only see it closed.

I actually really like their red surge uniforms and campaign Stetsons, but then again, I'm Canadian.

Call of The Wild was required reading in the 7th. grade but so was the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
