Good day folks, I have joined to help bring a LEC up to snuff.
I bought it knowing it was not the run of the mill 303 which lives in every closet here in Eastern Canada. Barrel is original,to the action but bolt was replaced and renumbered during its lifetime. Sported, unsure if original wood. Here is a pic or two.

Greetings from South Africa and welcome to the forum. Good luck with your restoration project and especially with the nose-cap and magazine. This is what your carbine would have originally looked like.

Nice Carbine!Yes I agree the parts are hard to find. Chasing odd bits os fun and I love a challenge. There is a magazine with the gun, but its not correct. It works but it appears the have been made from a cut up and rewelded No 4.

yes - we miss simons input and he might have helped if he was still here with us , but terry lee has shown what will be needed as well as the wood that might be difficult if vintage , new made might do it if well done ,

This fellow is reproducing Long Lee and Enfield Carbine wood sets with some of the rarer metal including the nosecap. I have not used him before so I can't speak to quality. As to the front sight, in perhaps a year I may have a base and blade for you. We will see how things go, I certainly wouldn't stop looking in the meantime.

I had him make a stock for my 1905 mkII Ross rifle sporter. And I’d say that he does pretty good work. He lives in Edmonton, Alberta if interested. |

Thank you all for this help. I am most certainly going to look into those stocks. Speaking of stocks, I am looking to take the wood off the gun later this month. Any specific markings I should expect to see? This is under the buttplate.

Additionally the cut off is missing. I have read they must be fitted, Is there different types which I need to search for or will any NOS No1 pieces work?

After stripping the wood off the action, I found several stamped marks. Most recognizable as enfield inspector marks. Also another group mid barrel. Have a look and comment please.
